And So It Begins. . .

As they say, a journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step.  I have decided that step will happen this weekend at Horseshoe Bend National Military Park.  As I said yesterday, I’m doing this challenge for me, for my betterment, enlightenment and education.  That said, it crossed my mind this morning that this adventure would go perfectly with our annual March for Babies campaign.

For those of you that don’t know, Lucy and I lost our second daughter, Olivia, to prematurity in 2008.  We are weeks away from our normal campaign, but I would love for you to sponsor me from this weekend until the walk on April 16th.  You can sponsor me per trip, per mile or a flat amount.  Due to my lack of free time, I couldn’t imagine more that 10 trips or 75-100 miles.  If you interested, you can direct message me your pledge or go to http://www.marchforbabies.org/youdaman10. If not, I’d still love your support later when we kick off our normal campaign.

I thought combining these two goals would motivate me to get started.  I hope for your support.  This challenge will continue long after the campaign ends.

Where are you from? I’ve been in Auburn most of my life but was born in Sheffield.

Good luck to you and your goals. Hiking is awesome exercise, great solitude and fun, which everyone needs more of in their lives.
I am enjoying reading your gear choices as you get started on this journey. We were exactly doing the same thing a few years ago and now have finally found our “happy gear” as we are now very active hikers.
    Happy trails😃
